The Biden administration is set to announce new restrictions on exporting sensitive technology to China soon, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce told members in an email November 21.

According to The Guardian, the new regulations could add as many as 200 Chinese chip companies to a trade restriction list that prohibits most U.S. suppliers from shipping goods to the targeted firms, the email said, according to an excerpt seen by Reuters on November 22.

The commerce department, which oversees U.S. export policy, plans to publish the new regulations “prior to the Thanksgiving break,” on November 28, according to the email.

The Chamber of Commerce did not respond to The Guardian’s request for comment.The update, if accurate, shows the Biden administration continues to crack down on China’s access to semiconductors even as Donald Trump’s second term as president looms.

Another set of rules curbing shipments of high-bandwidth memory chips to China is expected to be unveiled in December as part of a broader artificial intelligence package, the email continues.
